Polar vortexes and bomb cyclones, beware: we're thanking the design gods that someone had the presence of mind to create these cushy cuddle-worthy bear chairs.
Based on Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Parisian interior architect and designer Pierre Yovanovitch's sheepskin-covered armchairs are seriously the most inviting, comfortable-looking seating options. File these chairs under furniture we could totally see ourselves napping on.
Yovanovitch displayed the Bear Armchair at TriBeCa gallery R & Company in his first US show, an exhibition titled OOPS, which featured 24 other custom furniture and lighting designs and ran from September through the middle of October. For the event, he added the sheepskin upholstery and created the chairs in three fairytale-inspired sizes: Papa Bear, Mama Bear and Baby Bear.
Each chair features ear-like "appendages" attached to the back and wooden spheres for the feet. As Dezeen reports, Yovanovitch collaborated with "cabinet makers, ceramists, ironworkers, glassmakers, upholsterers, weavers, textile specialists, and lacquerers" from all across Europe to produce his furniture and lighting collection. According to the product description, the Bear armchair sounds downright dreamy:
More than a design seat, the Teddy Bear armchair is a companion, a mascot. Its presence fills the room with friendliness and comfortable curves. Created in Paris, it quickly became a true icon amongst the designer's works. The armchair was developed in a small and a larger model, both cosy and delightful. Beyond its natural elegance, its fluffy, bear-like silhouette evokes at once softness and comfort. An impression soon confirmed by the voluptuous comfort once nested into its arms… addictive!
We're pretty convinced that these furry bear chair arms will make a good substitute for human hugs, especially during these chilly winter months.
