Future Shelving: A Great Way To Charge Your Gadgets

Shelving hasn't changed much in the last 50 years. There's nothing more boring than picking up a pair of shelves from Ikea and putting them in your pad. Most of the time, you have to mix and match and that never looks good. Thankfully, new types of shelving are coming out. This shelf is a technological piece of furniture, that will enable you to light your space, charge your gadgets and store stuff. That's pretty nifty!

These pieces of future shelving were imagined by Sung-Pil Hwang from the Nothing Design Group. The Plug & Play shelves have the particular feature of being able to plug themselves into outlets which will make them function like a power strip for gadgets. That's not all. There is a lighting system integrated in these shelves. Plus, these shelves are pretty svelte. They are perfect to be placed near plugs and in the office. We can see them working well in the office and in the bedroom.

This pretty neat concept will need to be modified slightly so that it can get better use. For example, the height of the shelf should be variable, enabling it to fit in a multitude of different environments. Most plugs are placed low to the ground, which is why a higher shelf would work well. Plus, they might be used as secondary tables if the need arose. [via Trendsnow]
