Gabion walls are more often used in landscaping and infrastructure, but they've also been applied to a few daring pieces of residential architecture. Take a look at these projects employing massive gabion walls for a whole lot of stone texture:

Gabions are made out of stones that fill metal "cages", creating gigantic building blocks out of small stones and wire. Pretty much the opposite of small space living. Yet the texture of gabions can serve as inspiration for any of us, whether the spaces we inhabit are modest or grand.
