Jenn's Garden Apothecary

I've had the pleasure of following Jenn's garden via Instagram for quite some time now. I was drawn in by the beautiful pictures of her space, but my love of the area and the gardening climate in Half Moon Bay, California (her home base) kept me coming back for more. I thought I would share her garden with the Apartment Therapy community, and Jenn was kind enough to send some photos my way for all of you — just in time for our Outdoor & Gardening month!

Jennifer Segale, owner of Garden Apothecary, runs an organic landscape design and consulting company that specializes in coastal plantings, vertical gardens and unique plant sourcing. Along with running her landscape company, Jenn also spends much of her time writing about botany and horticulture for numerous publications as well as on her own blog, where you can find her eBook series, Botanically Belize and Botanically Spain. As if that wasn't enough and she wasn't already showing us up with her own charming garden, Jenn branched out and started an organic bath & beauty line, where she crafts hand-made, small-batch botanical products for the face and body.

Jenn's garden is a mixture of harmonizing, overflowing containers and cottage garden appeal. It was probably the mass planting of herbs that initially piqued my curiosity (herb gardening was how I developed my love affair with gardening many many years ago), but her interesting use of gardenalia mixed with grasses, shrubs and flowers keeps her garden fresh yet informal.

While Jenn and I are situated on opposite coasts, and I'm always jealous of those who can grow most succulents and cacti outdoors year round, I'm intrigued by how many similarities there are in our gardening styles. The gorgeous thyme that is nestled in the crevices of her patio, a mash-up of cutting flowers, herbs and edible plants, the wood stump and Woolly Pockets, all can be seen in my garden as well. But what about those tumbling, oversized terracotta urns? A unique focal point that has me swooning!

Make sure you visit Jenn's blog for more inspiring garden pics and informative tips, and check out her shop to see what she's been whipping up!
