Nutshell Review:

While the set we received may actually be defective, we're sending them back and returning to our first love, vintage French linen.

Full Review:

We wish we could rave about our Paintbrush Flannel from Garnet Hill...

At first we were in heaven. Soft, cozy, wonderfully warm, the flannel sheet and duvet cover made it very easy to ignore the fact that it was freezing outside...

But then, over the weekend, we stripped our bed before heading off to the laundromat. And we found huge pills -- no, tumbleweeds of white cotton. There were so many that we had to pull out the vacuum, and we have a hunch our vacuum bag is now full. When we called Garnet Hill to ask if this was normal, and if just washing the flannel again would take care of the problem, the rep told us that she'd had similar calls from other customers. She said we may have received a defective set, but she'd recommend returning them, and not purchasing more of the same product.

(Update: We experienced flannel tumbleweeds after an additional laundering, prior to returning the bedding to Garnet Hill.)
