Geneva's Non-Traditional Navy Nursery

Geneva's Non-Traditional Navy Nursery

Name: Geneva
Location: Irvine, CA

When we found out we were expecting, I knew I wanted a navy blue nursery for the little one, and as soon as we knew it was a girl I decided to add peony pink and aqua to the mix. The whole color scheme was built around the beautiful peony printed fabric from Caitlin Wilson Textiles that i used to make pillows and pulls on the storage bins.

We moved in to the house two weeks before Geneva was born, and my amazing mother and husband painted and built furniture so I could complete her little nest! We used entirely IKEA furniture but added gold knobs to the dresser since I was using gold accents around the room.

The giant peony is a decal we found online after a LONG search. It was from and it was super easy to put up and was opaque enough to use on navy walls.

The map was from eBay. It is CRAZY hard to find maps in this color scheme so we ended up with a reproduction of a map from 1865. As long as Geneva doesn't learn her geography from here we should be in good shape (most of current day Canada was just called "British Possessions" and Prussia covers a significant part of Europe!)

The bedding and curtains are from Pottery Barn Kids. I leave myself at the mercy of the crib bumper comments! I hope you like it and it helps some of the folks on here get the courage to go for non-traditional colors in little girl's rooms.

Thanks, J+D!
