The saying, “there’s nothing new under the sun” got a lot more real with the invention of the internet. If you think you’re doing something original, there’s a good chance Google will prove you wrong every time.

That’s why unique ideas, like this log-holder-turned-blanket-storage from Chrissy Phelan’s West Hollywood home (and salon!) are all the more impressive. It’s so good that pretty soon we’ll all reminisce about the days when these blanket totes used to be called log holders. Read on for our round up of the best log holder blanket storage solutions to fit your style.

One of the reasons this storage solution is so clever is that the shape of a rolled blanket closely resembles that of a log, the vessel’s intended resident. There’s really no wrong way to roll a blanket, but we like to start by first folding the blanket in half widthwise twice, then rolling it flat on the floor, like a sleeping bag. The simplicity of this log holder‘s shape combined with a few cozy blankets in a traditional pattern (like this CB2 wool throw) matches the polished-yet-cozy aesthetic of our home owner Chrissy.

Minimalists may prefer this Modernist Log holder from Rejuvination coupled with a few black and/or white throws, like this block printed linen number from Amber Interiors. Keep it streamlined by stacking blankets made from the same material and 86ing anything with color.

For a warmer, more traditional or even eclectic look, we’ve paired this Woven Rattan Square Log Holder from The Well Appointed House with a hand-dyed indigo throw from Amber Interiors. Stacking up one-of-a-kind hand-dyed fabrics in this unconventional log holder would be a work of art in itself. If you’re feeling really adventurous, you can even try making your own mud cloth.

Chances are, you’ve already got some throws and all you need is the perfect log holder to make your repurposing dreams come true. Either way, we love a good storage solution, so thanks for the genius idea, Chrissy!
