George's Modern & Vintage Mix

Name: George
Location: Memphis, Tennesee

After years of infertility we were thrilled to finally be expecting our first child. We decided to wait until the birth to find out the gender of our little one so the room had to be gender neutral. We wanted a room that was bright, colorful, and fun.

We incorporated a mixture of new, modern pieces, as well as vintage items from our childhood to make a happy room for our delivery-day surprise, which turned out to be a little boy we named George.

Source List:

  • We painted the walls a silver-grey called 'Monorail' from Sherwin-Williams.
  • Our crib and changing table are Jenny Lind style from DaVinici.
  • The storage cubes, curtains, and book ledges are all from IKEA.
  • The red chiffarobe belonged to my great-grandparents and we updated it by painting it red and replacing the mirrors in the doors with cork and chalkboard panels.
  • The quilt above the crib was made by my mother before I was born.
  • The rocker and chalkboard were estate sale finds.
  • The prints on the wall are from Etsy, the Renegade Chicago store, and Powell's Bookstore.
  • The lamp and peg rack are both from The Land of Nod.
