It's not spring yet (hold on just a little longer), but if you're champing at the bit like I am, then you'll want to think about getting a jump on these things you can do inside so when winter's reign is finally at its end, you'll be ready to celebrate spring weather with abandon.
Come warmer weather, you're gonna want to ditch a few layers on your winter bed. Get ready to switch out those flannel sheets and down comforter for a smoother weave sheet and a few lighter layers of blankets.
Do it now: Take stock of your lighter weight sheet situation. Decide which ones are still good and which sets are past their prime. Maybe splurge on a nice, new set to celebrate the soon-to-be warm weather.
Your windows really took a beating all winter with rain and snow and freezing temps, so a thorough clean is in order. How else are you going to see and appreciate all that soon-to-be sunshine?
Do it now: Take some time this weekend to clean the inside of every window. Leave the outside for when it warms up just a little more!
Winter makes you want to cook big pots of hearty soups and stews but come springtime, you'll naturally want to eat a little lighter. Make room for all those almost-available farmer's market fruits and veggies with a fridge and freezer clean-out.
Do it now: Assess the freezer and decide what should get eaten up while it's still chilly. Then make a meal plan for the next few weeks to incorporate those items. When it's empty, do your yearly defrost.
We're not talking gutters and shutters quite yet (wait for your hands to thaw a before attempting those outside tasks). This is more about your enjoying-the-outdoors spaces. When that first warm day arrives, you'll definitely want to get outside (even if you still have to bundle up) so make sure your space is ready.
Do it now: Dig out the cushions for your patio chairs and make sure they're clean and ready to go. Check your outdoor light fixtures to make sure they still work and dream of a lemonade on the porch.
