We first saw this bedroom, designed by the owners of New York-based creative agency, The Apartment, for their son in a Cookie Magazine house tour. That wallpaper by UK-based Timorous Beasties makes a memorable impact and really defines the room. With some large pillows placed against the wall, we envision this space functioning as a living room. In the latest issue of LMNOP (a free, online child-centric magazine), we were pleased to discover that Jennifer Ward deconstructed this room and found less-expensive alternatives to the designer originals...

That original wallpaper from Timorous Beasties just a little pricey at £230 per roll. (with today's exchange rate that's $320!) Luckily damask wallpaper isn't too difficult to track down. Jennifer found a toned down version from for the bargain price of $15.39! Our version (above), from Lowes, is a little more expensive at $64.46, but packs a big punch.

The original bed was two mattresses are pushed together on an extra-long frame by Belgian designer Casimir. For the same effect, Jennifer suggests purchasing two IKEA Eina Twin bed frames, $100 each.

To see Jennifer's suggestions for replicating the light fixture and other details in the room, see LMNOP, issue 6, which is online here
