Getting Spilled Air Freshener Odor Out of Books?

Q: In a recent move a package of oil from a plug-in air freshener spilled and got into a box of books. Now quite a few of my books smell strongly of sweet vanilla. While I enjoy the smell in my rooms, I have a stack of books that I cannot research from because they give me headaches from the smell. Is there any way to salvage them or should I just look for new ones? I'd hate to have to replace all of them (around 20 were contaminated). Help please!
