Getting Well, The Green Way

Getting Well, The Green Way

92508_getwell.jpgWe were perusing the shopping aisles in search of cold medicine last night (yes, it's the season), and came across, of all things, organic cough drops. And that got us thinking...what if, the next time a friend falls ill, we put together a green get-well basket?

We did some searching, and came up with a pretty good plan. Don't worry, we're not hoping that any of our friends get sick...we're just preparing.

First, we picked up those cough drops from Organix Health. They're all organic, made with sage, thyme, marshmallow root, hyssop, mullien, and slippery elm. And to top it off, the wrappers are made from biodegradeable corn starch!

We got to thinking that hot tea is a great remedy for any ailment, including everyday stress. For a sore throat, though, nothing beats hot tea infused with lemon and honey. So we found a beautiful hand-made single-serve teapot on Etsy from VermontCreates. And how gorgeous will that teapot look sitting on the counter when it's not keeping tea warm?

What kind of get-well basket is complete without a card? Enter Etsy seller artlife, who sells adorable Band-Aid "Get Better Soon" cards that are printed on recycled oatmeal paper.

And, finally, top it all off with a beautiful bouquet from your local farmer's market. No need to have roses shipped in from another country; just grab a handful of whatever's blooming in your neighborhood (but make sure your friend isn't allergic to anything first) and put them in a place where your friend will be sure to see 'em.

Let us know if you have any more ideas for a green get-well. And of course, here's to good health.
