Giving Up Your Pets: A Happy Ending

Giving Up Your Pets: A Happy Ending

A few weeks ago I wrote about giving up your pets and my sister's difficulties in the process of adopting out her two sweet cats. Over 100 comments were posted with similar heart-wrenching pet stories and advice on dealing with allergies. So I wanted to share with you what happened with the two cats.

Despite all of the allergy and filter advice given by readers, my sister's severe contact allergy kept getting worse and worse. Any physical contact with the cats or their hair caused her painful swelling and hives. Thanks to the Toronto Cat Rescue, my sister was matched up with a lovely family whose kids were thrilled to have cats at home. The family met my sister and the cats, fell in love with the cats, and took them home the day of the meeting.

My sister was happy because the family was vetted by the Toronto Cat Rescue. She is now in the grieving and cleaning process. She deeply misses her cats but is happy they found a new home, and she has deep-cleaned her furniture and house, getting rid of everything allergic.
