This Is How Much It Costs to Live 10 Minutes From the Golden Gate Bridge

As you might imagine, home prices in this area are reflective of its massive appeal. The median home price in the Marina District is $1,802,500, according to Trulia. Using the guideline that your monthly mortgage payment should be no more than 28 percent of your salary (and using a 10 percent down payment and current interest rates), you need to earn a yearly salary of $497,743(!) to afford to buy a home there.

Despite the many attractive qualities of this area, there are some downsides to consider as well. Canlas cites heavy traffic, especially on the weekends, as one of the negatives of living in the Marina District. He also says that prices at local restaurants and bars are inflated because the area is such a popular tourist destination.
