Good Questions: Upholstery That Resists Pet Hair?

Sadie sent us a good question: I have two cats who are reupholstering my futon in their own fur! What can I recover it with? Do I have any options besides vinyl or leather?

Sadie, we once blogged a shop in Denver called the Livable Home that specializes in pet-friendly upholstery. They use Crypton Super Fabrics, which claim to be "stain, water, and bacteria resistant" and especially well suited to resist pet hair. The line comes in twills, weaves, and prints, and you can buy it by the yard through JoAnn Fabrics. These definitely aren't "all natural" products, but Crypton does have a new green line available through higher-end retailers. Also make sure to check this post for pet-friendly upholstery recommendations from readers.

For quick and easy pet hair cleaning, the Pet Hair Magnet and 3M Fur Fighter are both popular choices.

Pet owners, give us your suggestions in the comments below.
