Good Question: Bookcase Alternatives

Good Question: Bookcase Alternatives

Mary Ann sent us an e-mail: My son, who is 10, has a nice bunch of books and we're looking for a good place to store them in his room BUT the catch is, we don't want to use bookcases. Call us kooky, but we like having books all over the room in an orderly manner. A sort of a lived in look instead of the total order of a bookshelf.

Anyhoo, do you have any suggestions for non-storage book storage? Hope this makes sense!

Good question, Mary Ann and it makes total sense...

There are several book storage alternatives you might want to consider. You can have your son's books in baskets throughout his room. We love the Container Store's selection of baskets and storage bins. You're certain to find a style to suit your son's room decor. Our favorite are the Feathergrain Bins which start at $14.99.

Also, we love the idea of putting books on windowsills. They look very shabby chic and homey, just be careful to have the window closed when it rains!

What suggestions do you have for Mary Ann?
