Matt left this question in yesterday's entryway roundup: What suggestions would you have for this space? I just moved in and am trying to get settled. I moved the tv stand about a foot further down the wall and put the little cube ottoman type thing next to the door to sit on. I've been throwing my bag/keys/wallet on top of it when I get home. It would be nicer to have something else to put my things on.
Hi Matt, we like that you scooted the tv down and added space for the ottoman to sit on and take off your shoes, etc. You might also consider adding some hooks across from the front door (or is that the closet door?) to hang things on. We find that when things aren't on the floor, it feels a lot more 'on purpose' and organized. Do you drop your mail down on the media stand too when you walk in, or are you putting it somewhere else? Perhaps having a more dedicated spot for keys and such (looks like the martini shaker is in the way) would help make it feel like an entry way. We'd also love to see a little bit of color. Maybe a bowl for keys or another poster with some color in it next to the (awesome) LA poster?
Here's an idea from Katie:
You could install some hooks next to the closet door for coats/hats/bags.
How about scoot down the tv unit even further and add a bookcase-like unit near the door, hip or waist high with a small basket on top for your keys/wallet. Some suggestions:
To be totally crazy and outside the box, how about a pony wall-like see thru book shelf (again hip height) on that tiny strip of wall right where your sliding glass door starts. It might define your entry way a little more. I know it might stick out into the living room a bit, but that's why it has to be small. You could put your basket on the top ledge and other decorative things in the cubbies. Something like a minature Expedit bookcase from Ikea.
What else dear readers?
