AT:LA reader Holly asks : I am moving into my new apartment soon and have no idea what to do with the exposed pipes under the bathroom sink. I'm really not into sink skirts, does anyone have an idea for something cool to put under there so it's not so ugly?

Hi Holly,

We're going to assume that your new apartment is a rental, which means ripping out the sink and replacing it is going to be a waste of time/money/bad idea. So, for a low cost idea that doesn't involve skirts, our advice is to go to Ikea (or Target), and put a shelving unit that's low enough to fit underneath (perhaps display some pretty toiletries, or stack fresh white towels in front to hide the pipes). Everyone needs more storage in the bathroom (or so it seems). If you're not into open-shelving, Ikea has some wash stand cabinets (pictured left), but it might be a bit tricky to fit your sink in question (it sort of looks like it curves out on the sides).

Anyone else have any ideas for Holly?
