Good Questions: Displaying Kitchen Wares?

Dear AT, I recently moved into a brand new apartment with lots of kitchen counter space - sounds great, right? Well, I can't figure out the best way to display all my stuff without it looking either completely random or totally contrived. What's the best strategy? Group like items together (toaster, blender, hot water pot) or arrange by height? Thanks for any tips. -Julie M.

We have a super tiny kitchen with only about 2 feet of counter space and 2 overhead cabinets. With your copious storage, our advice is to put all your stuff inside the cabinets. A few things that you use on a daily basis (maybe a coffeemaker?) would be better left in a place that is convenient for its purpose — but very few people use a blender put it away. Anyone else?
