Good Questions: Cat-Friendly Curtains?

Good Questions: Cat-Friendly Curtains?

Hi AT,

I have a set of double doors from my living room to a small backyard at my condo and don't know what type of window treatment to use. I currently have curtains up (see pic below), but I'm not fond of them (in terms of looks or function). To make matters worse, our two cats like to slide in between them and the door and so occasionally tug on them. This is causing the curtain rod to bow and the fixtures are coming out of the wall.

I'd like something that will stand up to my cats and yet still look attractive and be functional in allowing some privacy/shut out some light. Also, I know the cats love looking out the doors so another consideration would be whether I could allow them to do that while still we're at work.

The walls and carpet are neutral, and most of the furniture in the
room is cherry wood. The couch is a deep brown and accents and art on
the walls are multi-colored, mostly warm colors.

Any ideas? What has worked well for you? Thank you!!
