Good Questions: Pair of Chairs for Under $350?

Hi folks,

Can you help me find a pair of cute chairs? I need two chairs to complete my living room - and here's the problem: I have a budget of only $350. The ideal candidates would be smallish (not that much space to be had), modern, and a little bit cute.

I love this chair from IKEA or this chair from Room & Board, but I would gladly settle for any cute, comfy chairs, with arms or without. They all seem to cost $350 and up EACH! Any suggestions on how to get champagne chairs on a beer-and-pretzels budget?

Dear toomuchstuff,

Yup, $350 and up for a good quality living room chair is about right. The style of chair that you're after, like the IKEA and Room & Board picks you mentioned, is not hard to find, it's the price that's tricky. We even looked at Roy's on Sheffield, which often has less expensive options - and the Firenze chair (pictured above) goes for $399. We'd still recommend stopping in the store, though, because the dozens of rooms and upstairs as-is stuff might turn up something great, you never know.

Our very first idea, though, is to start with Craigslist. Keep an eye on things daily, be patient, and wish for the best. We've been incredibly lucky furnishing a good deal of our place with things purchased from Craigslist. It may be a headache and a lot of coordinating or negotiating, but the cost savings may be worth it if you are lucky enough to find what you want.

Any other suggestions for a pair of chairs under $350?
