Good Questions: Affordable Art?

Hello AT,

I’ve been living in my new place for a year and I still don’t have art on the walls! I want to buy some art (or create some art) on a budget, and have been searching ebay with no luck. Any intereting ideas for where to find art, online or otherwise, that won’t bust my budget and that goes beyond the vintage travel or museum poster? I’m open to all kinds of possibilities.

Thanks, Simone

Hey Simone, you’ve come to the right place. First, we suggest plugging the word “art” into the ATLA search bar and see what comes up.

A few posts that we like are the Aunt Beep website, which supports LA artists and has a wide (price) range of pieces.

We still smile at loyal AT reader Dana’s Kitchen clocks which create a smart installation without breaking the bank.

a fun thing (which we have never done) is, which lets you create your own personalized pop art creations.

And Finally, we have found some great things at the Melrose Trading Post, which is at Fairfax High School (7850 Melrose Ave. 323-655-7679) every Sunday.
