Q: My husband and I purchased and are renovating a 1929 bungalow in Albany, CA. While I seem to be able to handle demolition and construction I'm having a hard time coming up with paint color ideas for the master bedroom. We are essentially starting with a blank slate and it is a bit daunting - or perhaps I'm on decision overload.
The room itself is very sunny and welcoming. It has what feels like acres of space for our cal-king bed, a dresser and a bureau (both of which are cherry shaker style). I'd love to slip a reading chair in the room as well. In my mind it is the best room in the house. The floors are natural white oak. There is a lot of trim and I'm adding more: picture molding 1' from the ceiling to mirror the rest of the house.
The only color restraints are that it transition well into the master bath. I'm tiling the floor with 2" white hex, laying a 1/4" black with 4" white picture frame boarder. the walls will have white subway wainscot and a silvery sage paint. There are two stained glass windows in the bathroom similar to the one in the bedroom (mostly clear/white with splash of butter yellow, periwinkle blue and deep red) so plan on bringing a deep red into the bathroom as well.
I'd love suggestions. The pictures are from the week we closed on the house. Popcorn ceiling has come down and we're getting new windows and doors, similar but with no divided lites.
