Good Questions: Window treatments for this room?

Jan 30, 2007

Emily needs some suggestions: "I just bought a new condo that is still under construction. The living room/dining room/kitchen is one large room that has a glass enclosed patio in it (off to the side). While there isn't any direct sun light that enters the room, there is a lot of light. All of which is fantastic - except for when we're watching a movie! My question is how to provide window treatments that block out the light, but that don't detract from the general ambiance/decor of the room."

Hi Emily, Congratulations on your new space! Our first inclination for window treatments in this space would be to use some sort of shade. Smith&Noble offers a shade called "Illusions Shadings". It's basically a 3-in-1 type of shade, offering the light control of a blind, but also the diffusion of a sheer, and also the "elegance of delicate fabric."

Does anyone have any other suggestions for Emily?
