I love my new apartment but the bathroom reminds me of one found in college dorm-suite. I've never paid too much attention to bathroom decor b/c the old apartment bathroom was rather small and the "decor" was the shower curtain and bath mats.
In my new one, the colors are brown, cream white with dabs of peach on the floor tiles. My bathtub and toilet are brown! What looks good with chocolate milk brown? Yuck!...

I've been using a clear shower curtain liner until I figure how the place will look. At least I'll have a curtain to hide the tub.
I'll have to replace the toilet seat/top - it's white
I can't change the lower cabinet (I'm not into faux wood)
I can change the medicine cabinet and the metal towel racks. (Unseen: two more metal racks behind the door and one across from the toilet.) I'm thinking about replacing the racks with shelves and so I won't have to clutter the sink with soaps or tissue boxes.
Thank you! Jennifer
To cut to the chase, we think that the quality of what you add will make a difference in the overall feeling and that white is your best bet (though some may disagree). We'd go with a really nice white shower curtain and bathmat, and then do a beautiful neutral color in the towels. The red towel just clashes in our mind.
