Good Questions: Modern Outdoor Play Equipment

Ohdeedoh Reader Brenda wants to know:

I have an 18 mo old daughter and am gearing up for summer outdoor play. I'm looking for outdoor ride-on toys, playhouses, and slides that aren't hideous, cutesie, or smothered in Dora. Finding it hard to find decent, well designed/modern, or just simple outdoor toys. Here's what I found so far: original Radio Flyer wagon, original Big Wheel, Kettler tricycle. Do you or your readers have any suggestions? Many thanks, Brenda.

Dear Brenda:

We feel your pain. Although we don't have a yard to speak of, we have looked long and hard for well-designed and durable ride-on toys. We like the PlasmaCar (see post here), the Kettler Kettrikes that you mentioned, and the LikeaBike (see post here).

As for other equipment, how about this IKEA Vippig seesaw? It's intended for indoor use, but it's portable and light so you can bring it in when your daughter is done with it.

Any other suggestions for Brenda?
