Good Questions: Upholstery Fabric Resources?

Good Questions: Upholstery Fabric Resources?

Hi AT Readers! I recently inherited a beautiful danish modern chair from my great-aunt. It's in wonderful shape but no cushions came with it. I have contacted an upholsterer with reasonable rates that I found through Craigslist but I'd like to buy the fabric myself. I live in Philadelphia and although there's a "fabric row" area with a bunch of fabric stores, none of them seem to have any truly modern fabrics. I've found some beautiful fabrics that I like online from sites such as purlsoho and reprodepot but they all seem to be 100% cotton fabrics suitable for quilting and sewing clothing. Can anyone help me with a source (either online or in Philadelphia) for inexpensive modern upholstery-weight fabric? If anyone has any specific fabric recommendations, that would also be appreciated. I love bright colors and patterns. Thanks! Tracey

What a lovely chair! (we're totally jealous!) While this is an older post and many of these sales are long over, this Patterned Upholstery Fabrics post from AT: Chicago has some great resources in the links.
