Good Questions: Worn Wood Tables?

Good Questions: Worn Wood Tables?

Hello AT,

I was at Esca last night for dinner and they had the most exquisite worn, long work table in the center of the dining room. It had drawers all along both sides, a shelf along the bottom, and a separate butcher block fitted on one end. It was a beautiful chestnut color, with the top a deep brown from lots of breadmaking and meat tenderising :).

Do you know anywheres in NYC to get worn, solid, used, classic worktables? This had so much more character than anything new, I would only want something half the size.

Thanks, Sara

We think that would be considered a Farm table (typically French by name) and an antique. For that quality, you would need to snoop around antique dealers. There used to be a great place called Ar Brieze on Bedford Street, but they closed and we can't find them. We found some here:
Country French Antiques - 400 Bleecker
Les Pierres Antiques - 369 Bleeker England. Sorry.
JML French antiques
You get the idea. If everything is too expensive, you can go to Barnitques and have one made with a nice old patina on it. You can also try Staples in Massachusetts. (Thanks, Sara!) MGR
