Grain Sack Kitchen Towels DIY

We love the look of vintage grain-sack linens that we seem to be seeing everywhere lately, but they're expensive and not the kind of thing we'd want to be wiping up toddler messes with. So- this idea that uses the striped towels from IKEA, is a great way to have the look without the cost.

We'd never heard of this transfer technique before but it actually seems really simple. You use Citra-solv, a natural cleaner, which reacts with toner. Since it's a rustic look you're going for anyway, it doesn't even matter if the transfer doesn't come out perfectly. We're thinking you could also do this on pillowcases and other linens as well to get this classic European look.

We found the project over at Graphics Fairy and that's where you'll find a free pdf download of the image shown here.
