When you are outside of your home, far away from any power source, you rapidly find out that power is really important to keep your gadgets going. Speakers need to be powered. The fact that the Gramo speakers actually use the sun to power themselves is something really cool. You'll be able to enjoy music for a long time before power runs out.

These speakers were designed by Pekka Salokannel from Finland. Now you can use these speakers to listen to music outside, without worrying too much about power, since these speakers have solar panels on them to recharge themselves. Salokannel's speakers are based upon the look of old-time gramophones and record players. The speakers have three layers of solar panels, with batteries nestled inside to keep the music flowing. What's really cool is that they fold up flat for easy storage.

Naturally, you won't be getting incredible sound out of these, but if these ever get made, they will be a great solution to sharing music with your friends. The fact that they can use the sun to play music and use the same energy to power them after dark makes them pretty useful. We hope that these get made. [via DVice]
