Graphic Lamp/Nightstand Combo in Milan

Graphic Lamp/Nightstand Combo in Milan

One of my spring cleaning tasks is to tackle my nightstand because right now I'm pretty much using my low-and-large table as an impromptu vanity. I've got almost all my jewelry, a hair brush, tweezers and makeup all over it, making the whole big table cluttered and unnecessary. What I want to do is downsize and force myself to keep the area clean. Something like this wall-mounted nightstand, spotted at Core 77's preview of Milan Design Week 2009, would be great. It won't hold all my goodies, but it will hold a small bit in a really stylish way...

This lamp/table, called Sognibelli and designed by GUMDESIGN for zeroombra (whew! that's a mouthful), takes two very traditional versions of a shaded lamp and a lace-covered night table and turns them into a silhouette in shiny white.

That light shining out from under the folded lamp shape is an LED, making this a smart choice as well as a stylish one.

It won't hold much more than a small paperback or a pair of reading glasses, but it would be the perfect thing to solve my nightstand problem. Too bad it's an up-and-coming design from Italy. I don't need to know much else to know it's inaccessible and out of my price range.
