Welcome to Matt, whose green moves started with a simple motivation - to save some money. As we all look for ways to spend less (or at least, spend more wisely), looking to eco-friendly habits is a smart way to discover new ways to cut corners. It's not unusual for the greener option to also be the more thrifty one. Jump below for Matt's plan:

Matt's Green Moves: My biggest 'green' move/tip/solution has been power strips! Not just plugging all my electronics into power switches, but also turning them off while i'm not home. Since I travel for a living and am not home, I began switched the powerstrips off before I left each day. Doing this has cut my electric bill by 2/3!!!

I also switched to florescent bulbs in my living room, hallway, and bedroom.

Now if only I was able to get a smaller fridge as mine's never close to full!

Also, unplugging cell phone chargers, blenders, toasters, etc when not in use.

Attached are two unfinished pics of my work area and entertainment area where most of my electricity gets used.

Challenge and or frustration: No challenge or frustration with power strips. They couldn't be easier to implement or use. Everyone can easily do this. Another suggestion is to put your powerstrips on a timer. That way, if you work say 8-5, the timer will turn them off for whatever timeframe you want saving you money while you're away!

Only thing I'm waiting for is my custom cut glass to finish off the front of my new entertainment system. And to clean up all the wire clutter!!!

Inspiration: I really just wanted to save a couple of bucks. Being green is just a bonus. Plus if it helps my home city, then all the better.

Thanks, Matt!
