Chances are that if you're a Re-Nest reader with children, your kids aren't going to be in need of this particular program, but we were so inspired by its premise that we had to share. Children are the future, right? And empowering them to make positive changes now is important, wouldn't you agree? Enter Green My Parents.
The Green My Parents movement, according to their website, "activates and enlists kids to lead their families in measuring and reducing environmental impact at home and 'challenge' their parents to share savings with kids."
The movement officially began on Earth Day last week and we think it's a fantastic way to get kids involved—and an even better way to get parents to understand that their kids really do care about the earth. Much of the focus is on making eco-conscious choices that also save money (like timing your showers and switching to energy-efficient lightbulbs). Utilizing the myriad social networking sites, GMP hopes to become a very effective tool in homes.
