Harry Potter’s Childhood Home Is Now Listed on Airbnb
If you’re trying to immerse yourself in the world of Harry Potter, you’ve got plenty of options now: there are the books, the movies, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter attractions at Universal Studios in Hollywood, Orlando, and Japan. But none of those are quite the same as spending a night in the house where baby Harry Potter lived with his parents, at least as depicted in the films.
De Vere House, a bed-and-breakfast famous for playing the house of Harry, James, and Lily Potter in the town of Godric’s Hollow, now has a bedroom listed on Airbnb, so you can live out your Harry Potter fantasies like never before.
The location is impressive in its own right too. According to its website, the de Vere House has been around since the 14th century, then partly demolished and rebuilt in 1929. Oh, and apparently it’s haunted. You may not see Moaning Myrtle or Peeves the poltergeist wandering the halls, but here’s who you may bump into, also according to the de Vere House website:
“If you believe in ghosts, then de Vere House has a rich history of them, including: the ghost of the 13th earl’s son who died in the Tower of London at the time of the disappearance of the Princes in the Tower; the ghost of Sir Francis Vere, the great soldier, who died in the Thirty Years War, and many others. Needless to say, all of their many manifestations have perfectly logical and scientific explanations.”
As a destination for Potterheads, de Vere House is not decked out in themed paraphernalia, but it does come with wifi, a full English breakfast, and your own private entrance and sitting garden. What better place to curl up with your favorite Harry Potter book?
