USAopoly announced they are releasing two Harry Potter-inspired board games and one-unnamed Potter cooperative game later this year. The first board game that fans will be able to purchase is Scrabble: World of Harry Potter. So, you’re going to want to brush up on all of your wizarding world lingo ASAP. You’re most likely going to need words better than “owl” and “wand” to get a triple word score!
According to USAoploy’s press release, this is what fans can expect from Scrabble: Word of Harry Potter:
Let the games begin!
Wizarding World fans will be excited for SCRABBLE: World of Harry Potter, which adds a magical twist to the original word game. In addition to the traditionally allowed words, players can apply their Wizarding World vocabulary to earn Magical Word bonuses. Character names, places from the wizarding world, spells and potion names are all accepted in the game. Players can also enhance their score by completing directives from Harry Potter cards, which are unique to this version of the game.
The second board game from USAopoly is Harry Potter Defence Against the Dark Arts. This is a two-player competitive game that puts people head-to-head to compare their abilities. It is a fast-paced game, inspired by the popular Harry Potter Hogwarts Battle, that will teach players offensive and defensive magic skills, so they can stun their opponents and protect themselves.
If you’re interested in buying Harry Potter Scrabble, that will be available at Barnes & Noble (as well as local game stores) for $29.95 beginning in Spring 2019, in the U.S. and Canada only. Potter fans will have to wait a little longer to dabble in the dark arts. The Harry Potter Defence Against the Dark Arts board game will be available for purchase this summer! As for the cooperative game, we don’t know just yet when that will be available other than “in 2019” and exactly what it might entail, but we’re excited just thinking about the possibilities.
These aren’t the first Harry Potter games that USAopoly has released, they also sell Codenames: Harry Potter, CLUE Harry Potter, Trivial Pursuit Harry Potter, Harry Potter Hogwarts Battle, and Munchkin Harry Potter. You can browse these wizarding games online here!
