Keep Your Cats Warm This Winter With This Heated Cat House
We love spreading the word about cute cat houses — from the Halloween haunted house-themed one to the IKEA shelf-compatible one — but sometimes cat houses need a little extra function. Amazon is selling a heated cat house, for those kitties who live in cold places and could use the extra warmth.
While these houses are very practical (and therefore cost more than the novelty cat houses), a few of the designs are also pretty cute. It comes in a minimal olive green as well as designs that mimic a log cabin, a red barn, and a shingled cottage with illustrated windows on the sides, complete with flowers growing in window boxes and a cat in the windowsill (again, raising some questions about scale). It also appears to have come in a camouflage design, which is currently sold out (though shouldn’t cats who live in hunting areas have the opposite of a camouflage house?).
The house, listed as K&H Pet Products Outdoor Kitty House, Insulated Cat Shelter (Heated or Unheated), are nylon with a waterproof vinyl backing and come in both heated and unheated versions. The heated versions include a heated bed, which has been certified by MET Labs to exceed US/California electrical safety standards. Both versions also include two exits, which can both be covered by flap doors, so your cat will have two exit routes if it’s approached by a predator.
The Amazon listing calls the house “perfect for cats that sleep In garages, porches, barns, or even in the home,” as well as for feral cats. Wherever your cat lives, make sure it has a warm, safe place to sleep this winter and always.
Prices for the insulated cat house vary by design and range from $46.55-$56.24 for unheated models to $67.99-$80.63 for heated models.
