Heloise's Tips on Laundry & Dorm-Living
Known for her "hints," Heloise has been writing lifestyle tips since 1977, when her mother (also named Heloise) passed away and she took over the family advice-giving business. Today The Washington Post features Heloise's hints for college-bound freshmen and shows her visiting her alma mater, Texas State University at San Marcos, and sharing her wise tips with current students. Heloise's tips include cleaning a shared microwave by heating a large bowl of water with slices of lemon or orange for a minute or two. She also suggests using black nail polish to cover iPhone scratches.
