One of my earliest memories of spending time with my grandfather was watching him stand over an array of small pots in the dining room, carefully checking their growth. He explained to me that soon they would be ready to go outside in the garden, and eventually they would become vegetables. Not being super keen on some vegetables as a child, I had to squelch the desire to sabotage his budding collection waiting to be moved to the big plot outside.

Since all of our vegetables came from the garden, I thought if I destroyed the plants I would be free of vegetables. Thankfully, my desire to impress my grandfather outweighed my inner saboteur, and I got to participate in helping to feed the family year after year.

Whether you have a large plot like he did, or a tiny indoor garden like apartment dwelling I do now, here are a few tablet apps for the iPad, Android, and Windows 8 tablets focusing on plotting, planting, and nurturing a garden.
