Now that the holiday season is upon us, we’re making our shopping lists. Some of us even have an idea of what we want to get our loved ones (or ourselves), and here’s one way we save: by adding items to our shopping carts now, and then checking the prices on Black Friday. It doesn’t always result in a lower price, but sometimes it does. Here’s what we hope goes on sale:

Note: even if the site doesn’t discount your cart on Black Friday, some retailers might email you a coupon code to complete your purchase and avoid what the industry calls “abandoned shopping cart.” Win win!

Arlyn: Dear Black Friday Gods, I would really appreciate it if you’d discount this Le Creuset braiser. My dutch oven is quite lonely, and though it can tackle many of my recipes like a true workhorse, a braiser would make my culinary pursuits that much better (and my kitchen that much prettier). Please remember, BFGs, that Le Creuset rarely goes on sale, so a once-a-year blowout would be oh-so-appropriate and worthwhile. Sincerely, Crushing on Creuset

Brittney: There’s a little nook in my apartment and I’ve been looking for a mirror to fill it—perfect to open the space up (and, you know, great for getting selfie-ready.) I’ve had my eye on this one because it’s simple but interesting and would fit perfectly—it’s just out of my budget. A big Black Friday sale at Urban Outfitters might just be enough to change that, though, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

Tara: I was intrigued when these wool sneakers started taking over the ads in my Facebook feed, but when I saw a friend with them and she raved about how comfy and breathable they were, they got upgraded to must have. A sale would mean they’d be a perfect belated birthday gift from me, to me.

Carrie: For me, Black Friday isn’t about seeing what deals are out there that I can grab, but checking on a few items from my wish list that my heart has been saying yes to, but my wallet has been saying no. A better deal on this cheerful, graphic teapot (which I feel quite certain would enhance afternoon tea time this winter) could just tip the scale for me.

Now tell us: what do you hope to snag at a discount?
