HEWI for the Bathroom

HEWI for the Bathroom

I'm currently updating my bathroom (not enough to call it a renovation) and one of my biggest challenges has been fixtures. Luckily I discovered the wonderful world of HEWI.

HEWI is a German company founded in 1929 by Heinrich Wilke, the name formed by his initials. The company does it all, from towel bars to TP holders to wheelchair accessible handrails. And while they continue to make new, modern designs, it's the classic pieces that caught my eye.

The road to simplicity was not easy. It took Heinrich 41 years to develop the now iconic door handle seen in the second photo. Then in 1979, HEWI began making products for older and disabled people, quickly becoming a standout in the category. Soon HEWI developed a cult following (and yes I drank the brightly colored Kool-Aid) with it's sturdy, streamline shapes available in tons of colors.

Check out a huge range of HEWI for sale at Hewimd.com but be warned the prices are pretty high.

As an alternative, shop Ebay for a big selection at much better prices. Happy bidding!
