HGTV Design Star: Fallen Star Josh Johnson

Sparkle, sparkle, fallen star. Who knew you could be too glitzy for Sin City? Josh Johnson found out the hard way, and had to pack up his BeDazzler and head back home at the end of the Wedding Challenge episode of HGTV's big hit Design Star.

The always upbeat, almost always glamorous designer from Hendersonville, Tennessee was sent South in the double elimination he shared with fellow castmate Christina Ray. We'll miss his unflagging sense of humor and truly unique way with words… after all, he coined the term "celebu-teen."

Was the "Sparkle Josh" moniker a blessing or curse? Did he share anything other than a first name with Josh Foss? What role does a sense of humor play in the life of a designer? What's the one condition that would make him do it all over? Is "shopping" a bad word?! The slimmer Southern Fabio lets his hair down, and kept us laughing the whole time.

Josh also spoke highly of the talented cast (that seemed genuinely sorry to see him go). And explained why there's room on HGTV for a little weekly choreography. Seriously.

But while we didn't get to ask him, we think maybe he meant the urban Faith Hill and the country Queen Latifah in his oft-quoted line from Challenge 1.

See what Josh Johnson is up to at his website. (The chandelier! The belt buckles! The cheekbones! The pout! Soooo worth the trip. Turn your sound down!) or his myspace page.

Each week we're interviewing the latest fallen Star from the ">cast of Design Star. And hear all about the show direct from the HGTV VP, Event Programming, James Bolosh, in the interview that kicked off the season of this HGTV ratings powerhouse exclusively for AT readers.
