What happens when you tell two renters they can score six months of free rent if they successfully win the hearts of viewers with their rental redesign? You get the next best competition show on HGTV. Jasmine Roth of “Help! I Wrecked My House” fame and TV personality Brian Balthazar are hosting a brand new series on HGTV called “Rentervention”, and it’s cutthroat in the best way.

The way it works is that two renters living in the same apartment/housing complex go head-to-head in an intense rental space redo. They each get help from a veteran designer who works with them to create a brand new space without busting through walls, adding permanent design features, or reorganizing the rental layout.

Everything must be temporary, and oh, and they only have 48 hours to get the job done. Cue the pressure.

The first (and currently only) episode aired on HGTV on October 2, which means you may have decided the winning team months ago if you hit “like” on either completed space when they went up on HGTV’s social media account.

The catch is that Rentervention has only taped and aired the pilot episode—the full series hasn’t been ordered by HGTV yet. You can currently stream the pilot episode for “Rentervention” on Sling. Fingers crossed it gets picked up, because renters deserve some renovation inspiration, too.
