2018 is already off to a great start—at least for TODAY show fans. Savannah Guthrie announced this morning that Hoda Kotb will be her permanent co-anchor, following Matt Lauer's departure amid sexual assault allegations. Naturally, people have taken to Twitter to react to the news.
Savannah shared a selfie:
And then Al wanted in.
Tom Brokaw commented on the move's historic nature:

Congratulations @hodakotb! Looking forward to you lighting up my morning in a brand new way. ❤️— Mindy Kaling (@mindykaling) January 2, 2018
And if you're worried about the fourth hour with Kathie Lee, don't—because Hoda's staying on for that, too.
"You and me are together forever. You're stuck with me!" @HodaKotb tells @KathieLGifford how grateful she is to be named co-anchor of TODAY and how happy she is to have KLG by her side in life. And, Hoda's mom and sister called in to share their joy for Hoda Woman! pic.twitter.com/meiUJxLwMH— Kathie Lee and Hoda (@klgandhoda) January 2, 2018
And it wouldn't be Twitter without jokes and reaction GIFs:
