Name: Holden (4)
Location: San Diego, California
Holden's room is a bright and bold room in vibrant splashes of various hues of blue. We live by the ocean and Holden's two favorite things to do are surfing and swimming so the shades of blue are not only fitting for his room, but I also love that it is calming.
When he turned three, he requested bunk beds, so we bought the bed from IKEA because we liked that it could transition to a regular bed as well. After he was in a bottom bunk for a little while, we changed it up and I added this tent using muslin fabric overtop to add a little whimsy.
Every night we read books by the icicle lights surrounding his bed frame and it always makes everything seem so cozy and intimate. I love the fact that adding small and simple details like that can make a child's room feel enchanted and magical.
We wanted to add some color and make the space feel unique which is why we decided to paint bold, geometric patterns across one of the walls (this was a project Holden and I worked on together which made it even more special).
The carpet is the part I like least about the room, not only because of the drab color, but because a white-ish carpet isn't the smartest color for a boy's room. Luckily, I found an indoor/outdoor rug from Land of Nod that is super soft and comfortable to roll around and play on, but also VERY easy to clean.
