Yarn Bombing: A Joyful Holiday Activity for Kids

You can always find Rachel of Smile and Wave embarking on a new creative journey, and so often her children are along for the ride. This time, she's chosen a fun holiday activity that kids of any age can take part in: yarn bombing. The holiday beauty of this activity is that it goes beyond the reaches of those involved by spreading joy to others in the community.

Rachel's children wrapped yarn around a few pine cones, a simple art project that they could complete on their own. Then, with her help, they used pipe cleaners to hang the rustic ornaments on a neighborhood pine tree. The resulting pop of color among a sea of bare winter trees is a sweet surprise that her neighbors are sure to enjoy.

What are your experiences with yarn bombing with your children? What other activities do you do with your children to spread holiday joy?
