Twitter is full of all kinds of useful information. (And, for the sake of keeping things fair: it’s also full of tons of useless information.) You can find the good, the bad and the meh opinions throughout the platform on any given topic—yes, including home decor.

Somewhere being the trolls and spam lie some seriously good design tips in the Twitterverse. To help, we found six, spot-on tweets that can actually make your home a beautiful, more practical place:

Strategic Spacing

As @HomesDotCom proves, the idea of arranging furniture around a focal point is key. Spaces can look good without this trick, of course, but utilizing this method is a sure way to upgrade your aesthetic if you’re struggling.

Mix up Your Materials

This is one of the simplest home decor hacks that carries the most bang for your buck—and your minute. Take a cue from @VarhamanGroupMumbai and mix textures to make your spaces look well and intentionally appointed. Try your luck with faux fur, velvet, burlap, twine, twill, metal, wood, tile, glass…shall we go on? The more textures you play with, the more balanced your space will likely feel.

A Pop of Color

While the idea of painting your front door a fun color and adding a new light fixture might seem like a no-brainer, things can get shuffled to the back burner amid the chaos of moving and settling into a home. But this quick and low-cost improvement can make a startling difference. Thanks for the tip, @Kathi_C21EPR!

Make Mirror Magic

Want to add more light to your space? Take this @PrepThisHouse tip: Place more mirrors in your home, especially in strategic places—like across or diagonal from the windows—to brighten your home and add the illusion of more space while you’re at it.

Select Soft Shades

Color theory has more evidence behind it than you might think. These cool shades really can enhance a sense of peacefulness and creativity, so keep your specific spaces and the colors you use in them in mind! We love these dreamy shades @HomesDotCom recommended.

Wow With White

You may love the all-white aesthetic, but don’t underestimate how much depth varying shades of off-white can bring. Let this tweet from @mikeahern_ show you how it’s done!
