There’s still plenty of time to pick up a new hobby while practicing social distancing and hanging out at home. Ben Napier of “Home Town” fame is giving us all the opportunity to pick up the woodworking skill from one of his virtual, free classes he’s teaching through Varsity Tutors.

“I’m partnering with @varsitytutors to teach a couple of virtual courses on #woodworking,” Napier captioned an August 26 Instagram post. “This is a great offering for students of all ages and the classes are free and open to anyone. Y’all need to sign up so you can learn the basics of woodworking LIVE on Monday, August 31.”

According to the class’s Varsity Tutors page, Napier will be guiding students through building a birdhouse. Materials to bring to class include a miter saw or miter box, a drill with a Forstner bit or speed bone, a 1×6 board, a dowel rod, an eye-hook, and a small chain or some string.

The class will go live on August 31 and will run from 4:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. EDT. Though all ages are welcome, kiddos who attend should at least be in grade six (and be supervised by a parent).

The best part about Varsity Tutors’ classes, including Napier’s woodworking class, is that they’re completely interactive. So, if you have a question for Napier during his instruction, you can shoot it his way and he can answer.

Head over to the Varsity Tutors website to enroll in Napier’s class. It’s completely free and all you need is an email address to be added to the class roster. Then, log onto Varsity Tutors on August 31 to build your very own Ben Napier-original birdhouse.
