A Green Touch: Homeier Flora Air Cleaning Center Hood

There's definitely something beautiful about using a traditional appliance to grow some plants inside your home. That's the purpose of the Homeier Flora Air Cleaning Center, a luxury hood that comes with a bunch of LEDs to help grow your veg.

There are about 225 blue LEDs in the reservoir in the Flora Air Cleaning Center and it should allow you to grow some herbs or fresh produce right inside there. You won't need to worry about the quality of the air, as the Flora is a stainless steel ionization hood that will make the air almost sterile. It comes with a 440 m³/h motor, which has a delay function.

The reservoir light can be put on a timer to allow your plants to grow even if you're not in the kitchen. We like how this uses space that would usually be wasted to do something green. This is an unusual spot to see some plants, and ultimately it looks good, but it will be expensive.

For now, the Flora is only available in a few Eastern European countries and it costs €4,400 ($5,975). At that price, you could probably hack an existing hood into something feasible easily enough. The trick is finding the right spot and putting some lights on a timer, which isn't too hard. Some wire shelves with some timed lights will do the trick.
