Homesick’s New Candle Collaboration Will Instantly Transport You To The Bahamas
Now that the dreary doldrums of winter are officially in full swing, it’s understandable if you’re dreaming of the day you can dip your toes into warm, crystal blue waters. And while the ongoing pandemic is making travel difficult for the second winter in a row, Homesick Candles is here with a brand new collaboration that might just be the next best thing when you aren’t able to pack your swimsuit for a tropical getaway.
The beloved candle brand is known for its kitschy offerings, whether they be a sugary sweet collection in honor of Valentine’s Day, a celestial collection tailor made for astrology lovers, or a candle to celebrate your first night in a new home — and so many more. And while you surely love paying tribute to your roots by way of the company’s state-themed candles, sometimes you just need to feel like you’re whisking off to warmer pastures… even if you’re going nowhere but to your own living room.
Created in collaboration with the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, shoppers can now buy a limited-edition “The Bahamas” candle ($34), inspired by the island destination’s warm temperatures, unique culture, and idyllic white sand beaches. Housed in a clear glass jar, the box includes calming colorful pastels meant to evoke the signature Bahamian spirit all before you even take a whiff of the fresh, tropical fragrance inside. The notes of pineapple are inspired by the country’s Eleuthera Islands’ iconic pineapple fields, coconut milk inspired by the many coconut palms found throughout the country’s Out Islands, and the salty scents of sea air that recall the stunning turquoise hued waters and pink sand beaches you’ll find upon arrival. Other notes included in the soy wax blend are plumeria, lemon blossom, orange rind, and others.
Each hand-poured candle boasts a burn time of 60 to 80 hours and is made of non-toxic ingredients. If you’re gifting it to a loved one, you can customize your candle with a printed message on the jar for an additional $15.
Homesick and the Bahamas know you’re sorely missing the feeling of being enveloped in a tropical oasis. In a statement, Lauren Lamagna, general manager at Homesick, shared the inspiration behind the new tropical scent blend. “Throughout the last two years as travelers have had to postpone their trips and vacations, we’ve seen a surge in customers using our fragrances to feel connected to some of their favorite places around the world. What better way to deliver the experience our community has been craving than by partnering with The Bahamas to evoke their iconic islands and sandy shores in a fragrance?”
Even though a trip to the Bahamas might be out of the question due to current COVID-19 travel guidelines, there’s no harm in planning a future trip for when things finally become safer someday. In the meantime, a candle inspired by island time can help ease the sting of what feels like the never-ending winter blues these days.
