Most homes now have to have alarm systems. Alarm systems protect homes against unlawful entry. But what happens when you have parties and people coming over and something suddenly goes missing? We've heard about house parties where, all of a sudden, the HDTV goes missing! Fear no more, Honeywell has come up with an interesting solution to protect all of your valuables.

Basically, the Wireless Asset Protection Sensor from Honeywell lets you place tags onto certain valuables. The perimeter security system can remain off, like during an event or a party, and protect every valuable that is equipped with the tag. The alarm will be triggered if the valuables leave the perimeter. This functions as an add-on to a Honeywell Security system.

The device can be fixed upon any valuable requiring protection, from paintings, HDTVs, heirlooms and computers. This is ideal for situations where the use of an alarm that is constantly on isn't feasible nor practical. The sensors placed upon valuables will transmit signals of movement anytime, even when the main system has been deactivated. Instead of being active at all times, it only starts when it is needed. This makes it an interesting solution. The system uses an accelerometer, the kind of sensor that is used in automobiles to detect impacts and deploy airbags, to verify and recognize any time of malicious movement. Alarms can be triggered when the objects are moved. [via CEPro, images via Honeywell]
